Viet-Now!

Strangely enough, the last thing that happened to me in Vietnam was getting ripped off by a cabbie. ok, general rule of thumb, don't trust Vietnam's cabbies. But in-between rip offs, Vietnam was a good experience. It's advanced with great internet connections. Ho Chi Minh City is clean with lots of luxury cars cruising around. Vietnam also is home to my favorite cuisine in the world (rivaling my other favorite, Mexican). food is inexpensive which means i spent a lot of time eating. i was warned about crossing the streets in saigon, and although i saw many other foreigners precariously working it out, crossing roads wasn't ever a problem for me. just go, and most drivers will make sure they don't hit you. 'most' is the key word there. caught a bus to nha trang for the weekend and it was the wrong weekend because it ended up being a vietnamese holiday or something. the 1st 5 hotels i rocked up to were booked solid. the 6th only had the rockstar suite open, so i had to take it. it was big enough for 4 people, had a fridge with beer, tv, and hot water. and per night it was less than 25% of the cost of a crappy motel room back home. taking a boat trip to the islands is a popular thing to do in nha trang, so i did it. dougal told me about the tours taking people snorkeling and drinking beer, and i like snorkeling and drinking beer. and he was right, we did a lot of swimming and i drank a lot of alcohol, i dare say more than anyone else on the boat. however, a third of the guests were vietnamese and i don't think asians drink too much. the rest of the guests happened to be pairs of girls from places like israel, sweden, norway, canada, and ireland. then there was me and only 1 other dude from canada. this is where i finally learned that splitting 2 girls is really really difficult. more difficult than a group of 2+ girls. more on this later.

by Vietnam, the pizzle was playing the Japan '08 playlist: the Coldplay and I Am Kloot songs I could not stop listening to. That and some Big Pun.
