We're Going To Munchkin Land!

Monday, Monday, Mooooonday! I love Mondaaaaay. I really do love Mondays. I love how while everyone else is getting up to go spend their days at jobs they hate, I'm up early doing stuff that I like (even though it's technically work). However, I despise weekends and holidays. Part of my distaste comes from working in the food service industry, when weekends and holidays are stupid busy. I don't mind being busy (or gettin' busy. Yow!), but I do mind getting overbearingly busy which happens often in a restaurant. The other part comes from me being impatient, which is the reason I could never become a teacher, but that's another post. I can't stand wasting that which we can't ever recover: time. So waiting in lines, traffic, I will have none of it. I plan my day so that I have to deal with them less. I just don't understand the herd mentality, when everyone wants to do the same thing as everyone else AT THE SAME TIME. I know people that love weekends off because "everyone else has weekends off." Why would you want crowded surf, lines, traffic? It makes no sense.

Now we have the holiday season approaching, so you can imagine that I'm ready to freak the f out. Fortunately, we've been lucky the last 10 days because Alastair's been away from the kitchen. It's like a vacation when the head chef's not there, except we get paid and fed. I've conditioned the kitchen to sing a certain song when Alastair leaves for the day. One time when he was leaving, I started singing, "Ding dong, the witch is dead..." and he was still standing right behind me. I have impeccable timing. Oh, and my accompanying dance didn't help either.
