Had a pretty good day today. I normally don't have Saturday's off, but I kept myself busy. Spent the morning cruising with
Automaton Agent Joe and filming him in a jib contest at
Boreal. The old saying goes: No falls, no balls. If this is true, then Joe has the biggest sac known to man. He took a spill on the flat-down box that got some attention. But the truth is, in snow/skate/surf, if you're not falling, you're not trying. So while all the other competitiors were sticking to their known bag of tricks, Joe was pushing himself. F-ing i love it. Never rest on your laurels. Whoever laurel is. I knew one on Kauai. Not in the Biblical sense, though. Cute, too.
Later today, I took care of a real mountain man chore, stacking wood. Firewood. Check it out. That's 1 full cord, baby! With gas prices tripling since last season, I foresee lots of fires to heat the casa. So bring the marshmellows!
ps. Geez, my other roommate just whipped out an XBOX 360! I now foresee a lot of nothing getting done, next to a roaring fire.

there is nothing more enjoyable than cutting and stacking wood on a winter day. the cold. the ching of the mallet on the axe head. the crack of the wood giving way as it should. the beauty of instant gratification. i've never cut a full cord. impressive.
now you need a full body rub down, doncha?
ah, the pain of a job well done...
