The Mostess

I'm undecided about cities. I think they bring out the best and worst in people. It's all about the effects of volume. I like culture, and strong cultural values generally come from large groups of people. Such as a city. The greatest music, art, ideas, are usually generated in or near urban regions. These things inspire me and sometimes I have hope for humanity to progress and grow as a civilization. On the flip side, when so many people are concentrated in an area, we get traffic, pollution, crime, high prices, and worst of all, people take human contact for granted. How can a person be in the midst of millions of people and feel lonely? Why do people in cities freak out when a stranger says hi? On top of that I generally see less sense of community. And this is my dilemma with city life. There's so much potential for good and not so good in them. Still undecided, but I'm making the most of it. Here's Ben in Argentina making the most of some backcountry pow pow.

wow, my sentiments EXACTLY! strange dichotomy, isn't it? i think about this all the time. but then, we could go the same pro/con list with suburban/rural areas too. we need the perfect utopian place to live!

thank you so much for your well-wishes. they really mean the world to me (i mean this from my heart). i am starting to feel better. i can't wait for total normalcy again soon!
