Decade

I love traveling. I tend to have a difficult time saying that I love anything/one, but I can easily say that I love to travel. I like waking up in a new place, the sense of adventure and uncertainty. No responsibilities. Freedom. It's the best, really. And because of my love for travel, I devised the 10 Year Plan; when I was 20. And I promised myself to go through with it. What is the 10 Year Plan? It's a promise to travel, have fun, don't worry about stupid crap that doesn't make a difference, and to not "get serious" until it was over; dead at 30. It was going great, and still is. I devised the 10 Year Plan while surfing the southshore breaks of Oahu. I felt like I'd rather report to an office made up of sand and sun, rather than a computer screen and a cubicle. When I was 22, I moved to Australia where I met friends that I still have and visit today. When I was 24, I lived on Kauai, in a van. A '84 Ford E-150 delivery van I bought from a dude on the beach for $500. Surfed some unbelievable waves while on Kauai. By far gnarlier than anything i've surfed in California or Oz. During the winters inbetween, I was either in Summit County, Colorado, or Tahoe scoring some snow. But back on point, the 10 Year Plan, I love traveling. It has provided me with some of my most valuable experiences. Such as the experience to know that rarely does anything go exactly according to plan. For example, nowhere in the original 10 Year Plan was: launch a snowboard company. Now I suffer the discomfort most new business owners go through: worries about tight cash flow, paying off debts, second guessing my own ideas. I love Automaton, though. And I appreciate that there're shreds out there that support companies that support our culture. I'll be a really happy dude the day Automaton takes me out of the kitchen permanently. Anyway, the above quote I got from Eric's dad. It kinda reminds me of the surf philosophy: if you don't go, you'll never know. So pack your bag and jump on a plane. Do it now before you can't do it at all. We're not getting any younger.

Good for you! I have never really been a "set goals" type of gal...save for getting married and having kids but how amazing must it have been to be able to be a vagabond. Just travelling and enjoying life! What a joy that is. Good for you. You have a lot to be proud of....

Don't be afraid of love because once you find a woman who loves that life....hang onto her and you've got a good partner!
